Surat At-Tawbah (The Repentance)
Surat At-Tawbah (The Repentance)
9.29
from the translation considered reliable: Yusuf Ali
"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge [=accept] the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.
"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge [=accept] the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.
commentary below. [this translation has different interpretation than the website quoted in previous post and] this is considered a more reliable translation. similarly abu bakkar is considered a more reliable hadith than the other hadiths.
anyway a sincere Muslim must believe in the "Jizya" something to PAY.
to "fight" for the Truth of Allah[=the God] and even against the Jews who were "once beloved by God" [as one hadith said]. this is the meaning of the added "even" to aid interpret this section of the sura
so when you meet your neighbor who is not "an angry muslim" like those angry terrorists fanatics, who tells you and also his wife insists "islam respects women very much" ask them about "the pluralism 'offered' to those who pay Jizya"
I hope Muslims who read this will comprehend that they should stop beleiving in a faith that contains such ideas
but who is wise enough to argue with the infinite wisdom of God and his prophets?
who is stupid enough to become the target of this verse quoted! by denying "the religion of Truth"
commentary for clarification, American style
believe not in Allah: those who believe NO God or God CANNOT be proven to exist.
the last day: according to Islam at the end of time Jesus who never died, will return to land to Judge all people.
forbidden: for example it is forbidden to eat ham [even for Christmas Dinner] from a pig and forbidden to eat and drink during the month of Ramadan.
people of the book: Fight "even" Jews who "were once beloved" by God
Jizya: name of payment to earn "pluralism and tolerance"
