After a swim in my private pool, I went to nathans house for the afternoon. we ate bread spread with peanut butter and white sweet marshmallow fluff- and next we would play a lottery game. who would begin the game? me or him?
nathan said that I should begin because I was the guest, and I was happy to start, yet he was the host- so I declined and said "no, lets do rock paper- you know? show a fist like a rock or a flat palm like a paper".
nathan asked, "rock wins because it is harder?"
"no, the rules of the game are paper covers rock"
"fine", he agreed and put out "paper"
"wait! we count and then show" I exclaimed and turned to see his big sister who asked, "what are you playing?"
"we are playing rock paper scissor" I answered.
"one two three and..." sally counted-
nathan showed a paper but sally and I showed rock- nathan won
nathan asked, "why did you show a rock? you said paper covers rock!"
i explained that i feared he would show scissor and cut my paper- so I put a rock to break the scissors.
nathan asked, "what if we each put out a different one?"
I replied, "my rock would break sally's scissors and your paper would cover my rock so you would win"
sally argued "my scissors would cut your paper after covering tom's rock"
"no!" I insisted, "because my rock would break the scissors"
nathan suggested by order of the alphabet- n is first, then s for sally and finally t.
we played the lottery game and had a fun afternoon.
note:
rock loses to paper which loses to scissors leaving scissors?
or rock breaks scissors after cutting paper leaving rock? or before cutting paper leaving paper cover rock... hmmm...
this is why a trial has the name tri+al with tri in it for three for balance.
