background of New testament

the new testament tells about a time when Herod was king
what was the background?
i tried a post before but it was a mess so i try again
first
the emperors of Rome help us set the time-frame
who was roman emperor when Jesus was born?
Augustus called first emperor [Caesar ended the republic]
27 BC until 14 AD Augustus
before Jesus' birth:
"In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world." luke 2.1
this matches what we know in history
14-37 Tiberius matching luke 3.1
"In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch"
tetrarch means quarter 1/4 in 3-ruler-team
this tells us about the time of john-prepare 14+15=29 AD
we know who was emperor at the "deicide" - an inaccurate term because god did not die- only the body
"noone takes me" said jesus in matthew in john 10.18
the jews were powerless at the time and could do nothing but let pilate choose- pilate killed jesus.
when jesus was born emperor augustus
we also know who was king: matthew 2.19-22
"After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt 20 and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”
21 So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod..."
we know herod was king -37 until -4
37 BC until 4 BC Herod king [while augustus emporer]
http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/263437/Herod
therefore Jesus must have been born before the year we identify as 4 BC because herod until 4 BC
therefore when we count the year 2014 we are not counting from jesus' BIRTH
we are counting from when earlier generations thought jesus was born
did you notice what the land is called according to the new testament?
http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Mat&c=2
see verses 20-21
just to be certain i checked the greek and to the horror of pro-arabs, the translation is accurate
the time between herod and the approval of archelaus mentioned in verse 22 was violent war described in josephus "jewish war" p. 112 in one of the english versions herod dies and then battles in "Israel"
jesus was spared the turmoil because fled from herod to egypt: matthew 2.13
britannica swapped names misquoting archelaus when misquoting verse 13 as verse 22.
josef and jesus fled from herod
hence
before 4 BC because herod died and stopped being king at the latest 4 BC
therefore jesus lived in nazareth 33 years from 4 BC until 15 of tiberius when john prepared luke 3.1 in 29 AD
